Internship/Partnership with SEiD & Integrative Holistic Dentistry

Position Title: Part-Time Internship – Entrepreneurship in Dentistry
Host Organization: Integrative Holistic Dentistry, Chapel Hill, NC
Partner Organization: SEiD (Students for Entrepreneurial Initiatives in Dentistry)
Duration: One semester (e.g., Spring, Fall, or Summer), renewable based on performance and interest
Location: Remote with potential for in-person opportunities at 891 Willow Drive, Suite 2B, Chapel Hill, NC 27514
Start Date: Flexible, starting with the next available semester (e.g., Summer 2025, Fall 2025)
Hours & Compensation: Flexible hours tailored to accommodate academic schedules. This is an unpaid internship; compensation is provided through continuing education opportunities, hands-on entrepreneurial experience in the dental industry, and the ability to receive academic credit where applicable.

Overview:

Integrative Holistic Dentistry, led by Dr. Ralph Mensah, DDS, AIAOMT, FICOI, is partnering with SEiD to offer a part-time internship opportunity for a motivated student interested in entrepreneurship and dentistry. This internship aims to provide hands-on experience in driving growth initiatives for our practice, blending innovative strategies with the unique intersection of dentistry, business, and community engagement. As an intern, you’ll gain practical insights into business strategy, marketing, finance, customer experience, and dentistry, while contributing fresh ideas to enhance our practice’s visibility and patient engagement.

Goals:

Lead growth efforts for Integrative Holistic Dentistry by introducing new ideas and innovative practices proven or explorable within the dentistry industry.
Develop and implement strategies to increase the practice’s visibility, patient retention, and community impact, aligning with our commitment to holistic, entrepreneurial excellence.
Provide the intern with real-world experience in entrepreneurship within a dental setting, preparing them for future leadership roles in dentistry or related fields.

Responsibilities:

Commercial Advertising Launch: Lead the development and execution of a commercial advertising campaign for the practice, managing relationships between Integrative Holistic Dentistry, a video production company, and media channels to promote our services effectively.
Strategic Visibility through Local Partnerships: Build and nurture local partnerships and community engagement initiatives (e.g., with health organizations, local events) to enhance the practice’s visibility and reputation in Chapel Hill and beyond.
Patient Retention and Engagement: Design and implement strategies to engage and grow our patient base using our dental marketing platforms, website (www.ihdnc.com), and social media channels, creating systems to improve patient satisfaction and loyalty.
Business Strategy and Innovation: Analyze market trends, financial data, and customer feedback to propose innovative practices that could elevate the practice’s offerings, such as new service packages, pricing models, or patient experience enhancements.
Marketing Support: Assist in developing marketing campaigns (e.g., email newsletters, social media ads) and provide insights on strategies to optimize practice growth and profitability.

Qualifications:

Current student with a strong interest in entrepreneurship and dentistry.
Passion for business strategy, marketing, finance, customer experience, and the dental industry.
Excellent communication, project management, and analytical skills.
Familiarity with digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and business strategy is a plus.
Ability to work remotely with occasional in-person collaboration and manage a part-time schedule (5-10 hours/week).

Application Process

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis by a joint committee from Integrative Holistic Dentistry and SEiD. Candidates will be evaluated based on their alignment with the internship goals, particularly a demonstrated passion for entrepreneurship and dentistry, as well as relevant skills and experiences such as marketing, business strategy, and communication. The committee will also consider creativity and initiative shown in the cover letter and short answer responses. Applicants will be notified within 2–3 weeks of submission if they are selected to proceed to the interview stage.

Interview Process

Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted to schedule a 30-minute virtual session via Zoom. The interview will be conducted by Dr. Ralph Mensah (or a representative from Integrative Holistic Dentistry) and a representative from SEiD. This conversation is designed to assess the candidate’s fit for the role, enthusiasm for the opportunity, and potential to contribute to IHD’s growth initiatives.The interview will begin with a brief 5-minute introduction, during which the candidate will share their background and interest in the internship. This will be followed by 15 minutes of behavioral and situational questions to evaluate skills, creativity, and alignment with the role. Next, the candidate will have 5 minutes to ask questions about the internship, IHD, or SEiD. The final 5 minutes will be dedicated to closing remarks, outlining next steps and the decision-making timeline.
